Do you need a scientific reason to explain why playing sports feels so good? According to the latest research in Negative Ion Therapy, our bodies respond favorably to the Earth’s negative electromagnetic charge. Without going into an intense bio-chemical explanation, suffice it to say that being outdoors and surrounded by natural resources, such as the sun, wind and moving water can actually change the charge in our cells from positive to negative. Negative ions, existing naturally in nature, contain an extra electron that can combat positive ions that are created by outside influences such as pollution, and inside influences like acidic or chemically ridden food.
It sounds illogical to a simple minded person like me to believe that a negative can create a negative which creates a positive result. So confusing! But as science is proving, accessibility to negative ions are required to sustain life and maintain a well state of being. When deprived access to negative ions, our body chemistry changes, leading to health issues like depression, pain, fatigue, anxiety and even allergies. It is the cells and molecules we are made up with that dictate the condition of our body, so we need to pay attention to what makes them function optimally. Since the sun and other elements we are surrounded by are larger than ourselves, they have the power to cancel out what our bodies don’t need.
Fortunately we have plenty of options to get our negative “fix.” Being part of nature during exercises such as swimming in the ocean, hiking and biking in the forest, mountain climbing or just being out in the sun works great, but what if you can’t get out as often as you like? Options for re-creating this negative ion result include: ionic light bulbs, infra-red heat, ionic clothing, air purifiers, waterfalls and even ionic salt rock lamps and candles. Lots of choices, but none better than going outside to play. Hope your day is appropriately “negative!”
