Owen Kenny

NYC Ironman

Born down in St. Vincents Hospital in the Village, the NYC Ironman will bring me to the Finish Line on the West Side exactly to the day 44 years later. 24 Weeks of highly scheduled training. Hoping the Race is only about 12 hours, but Running the good 44 years is of-course the Real Race

Week 5 - Recovery

March 26, 2012

Pretty light recovery week basking in the glory of a successful San Juan 70.3.  Took 2 days off after the Race and simply logged 7 1/2 hours of training of the week after. This included a 45 & 50 minute swim, which is a little over 2 1/2 miles total.  16.6 Miles of Running, and a 37 Mile Ride & easy 60 minute spin earlier in the week.  Sore for a couple of days after the race but felt great just in time for the weekend Brick work.  Now after hiding behind weeks of Taper, Race Week, and Recovery for the last 3 weeks, no holding back now with 19 weeks before Ironman NYC..  Gonna hit the Tuesday heart rate spins hard, and focus on long.er Rides and Runs on the weekends.  Oh, and watched online the Ironman Melbourne Australia Saturday night and saw Craig Alexander come from 5 minutes back on the swim to eventually throw down a 2 Hour 37 minute Marathon ! on his way to win with a 7:58 Ironman!   Damn!  Motivational enough !  Craig is a Kona 3 Time Champion! (i.e. World Champion).  Aussies!!
